WHO WE ARE
Pyramid Outfitters operates in game management unit (GMU) 12, with four (4) permitted National Forest/Wilderness campsites, and a 5th permitted fishing camp. Founded in 1988, Pyramid Outfitters provides its clients with unique access to a remote area within the Flat Tops Wilderness and GMU 12. Driven by a shared passion for the outdoors, Andrew and Charlie are stepping into the boots of an outfitting veteran, taking over a legacy hunting business from one of the most well-known hunters in the area. After over 50 years of guiding hunters and building a reputation for unmatched knowledge of the area, the founder entrusted the business to the duo, confident in their ability to uphold his standards, stories, and success. With fresh energy and a commitment to preserving the traditions of the craft, they aim to blend modern techniques with time-tested methods, ensuring these adventures thrive for generations to come.
Andrew Koert
Andrew Koert owns and operates Pyramid Outfitters after acquiring the legacy business from Steve Whiteside in 2024. Andrew has lived all over the U.S. as well as Zurich, Switzerland, but has called Colorado home since 2010. Backcountry camping and wilderness adventure has been a lifelong passion, ignited during an 11-day through hike in the Northern Cascades and successful summit of Mount Rainier in 1996. Andrew has been hunting big game in the Rocky Mountains for the last 14 years. When not in the backcountry, Andrew resides in Golden, CO with his wife Gina and two children.
Charlie Pankey
Charlie grew up in Franktown, CO, and now resides in Castle Rock, CO, with his wife, two kids, and two dogs. By day, he serves as the corporate chef for a global dairy company in Denver. On weekends, Charlie pursues his passion for shooting sports, specializing in long-range precision rifle competitions, a discipline he's been dedicated to for over 11 years. Charie grew up hunting and shooting with his dad, then found guiding later in life when he started working for an outfitter in Craig, CO. Charlie joined Pyramid Outfitters in 2024 and cannot wait to share his passion for elk and other western big game with clients.
Camden Koert
Camden Koert is an accomplished precision rifle athlete - two time gold medalist in the Colorado State Jr. Olympics, and two bronze medals at the National Jr. Olympics competition in his age group. During his summers off from school, he can be found fishing and hunting the same area where Pyramid Outfitters operates. Camden took down his first elk at the age of 14. According to him, he "is the baddest biddy in the tack room, loves blizzards, and his favorite animal is the snow bunny."
Steve Whiteside
Steve Whiteside has been guiding big game hunts in the Flat Tops Wilderness for over 50 years. He founded Pyramid Outfitters in 1988 and has forgotten more about outfitting than most will learn in a lifetime. While Steve retired in 2024, he often joins us to share stories around the campfire, and occasionally joins a pack string to keep the rest of us in line and show us how it was done before cell phones and hunting apps.
